On saturday, all of our students went on a day trip to Otavalo!

We started in Quito at 7:30 in the morning to be able to see not only the famous indigenous market, but also a few more attractions along the way!

While driving, we spotted this amazing viewpoint on the side of the road. You could even see the cotopaxi smoking in the background! Impressive!

Our second stop was an animal market on the outskirts of Otavalo.
The market represents an important part of the indigenous culture, as it still offers a more traditional insight into the lives of the otavaleños than the artisanal market.

The big market in the middle of the city was our next stop. Even though it has been influenced a lot by tourism, it still is very interesting to visit and experience.

The activity of the Plaza de Ponchos is mostly due to the marketing of local, regional, national and international handicrafts. While most of the products are textiles from Otavalo, there are also crafted products offered, for example clay, paint, wood, jewelry, jewelry, leather, marzipan, ceramics, etc.

On our way back to Quito, we stopped at a beautiful waterfall, the 'Cascada peguche'.
All in all, it was an amazing and interesting experience!
¡Hasta luego!
